Accommodations The center cockpit is like a command post, leaving the helmsman within reaching distance of everyone and almost every operating system on board. An incredible layout at sea. All the necessary requirements for vessel operation are right there in the cockpit. The helm station is just behind the mast, leaving all sheets and halyards where you can handle them without a lot of heroics or complex turning block systems. The centerboard is right there, and reefing takes place in the cockpit by nature. Visibility is excellent. The cockpit deck is raised considerably in order to create a large engine room below it. You can see all six corners of the vessel from the helm station. Crew contact is also excellent. Berths are just forward of the central cockpit and the saloon, or great cabin as Jim Brown prefers to name it, is just aft of the cockpit. The galley is at the entrance to the cabin. Thus the people cooking, eating, laughing, or talking are a full cockpit length away from those sleeping, yet in full view and contact with the helm. Weight distribution is excellent. The centerboard trunk splits the central space under the cockpit sole, and the resulting structural member forms a solid base for the mast. The raised cockpit sole integrates into a major structural component and forms two large volume compartments exactly where the weight should be. With the engine installed on one side of the center board trunk and the water tank, fuel tank and batteries on the other side, you have what is termed natural ballast. Westsail Cutter

http://www.yachtworld.com/edwardsyachtsales/

Accommodations Entering this vessel down the heavily built custom companionway stairs the U-shaped galley is to port. Beautifully finished cabinets provide ample storage and there is a new double stainless steel sink on her center-line, providing good drainage on either tack. There is also a custom designed fold up counter which greatly increases the galley work space. To starboard is the traditional stand-up nav. table with all the proper instruments, breaker panel and storage lockers and drawers plus: a built in stereo, and built in microwave. Next is where the the interior of this vessel departs from the rest. She has been designed with two opposing settees and a fold down dinning table that can be opened facing one settee only, and still allow ample room to pass forward, or opened to its full extent to comfortably seat 4-6 guests. When not in use, the dining table folds back against the main bulkhead and is properly secured. This change from the traditional dinette interior opens up the main cabin and gives the impression that this vessel is much larger than her sister ships. The Port settee opens to a full double when needed, or remains a comfortable sea berth for one. To starboard is another standard height settee, which also can be used as a single sea berth. This is a departure from the traditional raised sea berth and provides a safe berth with much additional storage cabinetry Forward of the saloon is a full head to port, and a cedar lined hanging locker to starboard. The owner's cabin is forward of the head and has a solid wood door that closes for privacy. There is more than ample ventilation with her eleven, specially built, over sized bronze opening ports. And a feature not commonly found on W-32"s, an over sized and secure custom opening hatch in the main cabin. She also has an opening hatch in the owner's cabin. More than enough ventilation when on the hook, and ALSO, a 12,000 BTU air conditioning system for those hot tropical days and nights in a marina. Please see the pictures to get a feeling for the beautiful custom tongue and groove woodwork on the cabin overhead with finished deck beams and carlins, and the elegantly planked upper cabin sides. The interior is a traditional blend of finely finished woodwork and white painted surfaces which give her a very salty and bright interior in the Herreshoff style. 12,000 BTU Central Air Conditioning, sea water cooled Sony stereo system Two large hatches and eleven over-sized opening ports, all screened Numerous cabin lights A/C outlets External phone/cable jack Deck external water connector for dockside usage Sleeps two in private owner's cabin, and up to three guests Two excellent sea berths in main saloon for off-watch quick access to deck Galley The Galley is designed to be extremely functional with ample counter space. She has a large/deep double hatch refrigerator/freezer and plenty of secure space for stores. Her kerosene stove and oven is safe and efficient, and there is a microwave oven for quick meal prep. Hot/cold pressurized water and a foot pump to conserve battery power serve the double stainless sink. U-Shaped galley Beard Cool refrigeration/freezer Goldstar microwave 2 Burner kerosene stove and oven w/built in storage tank Hot and Cold pressurized water 6 Gallon hot water heater feeds galley and shower, forward Fresh water foot pump Custom fold-a-way counter extension Electronics All of the necessary electronics to make your cruising safe and navigation accurate. Saturn bulkhead mounted compass in cockpit Faria electric compass mounted overhead inside of cabin, in view of cockpit Horizon VHF radio Garmin 220 GPS / Chart Plotter with additional mapping chips and large screen mounted overhead inside of cabin in view of cockpit Signet depth sounder Speed and Distance calibrated on Garmin GPS unit Full electronic auto pilot Electrical 2 Deep cycle marine batteries Zantrax smart charger 50 Foot shore power cord Dockside electrical connection in cockpit Full A/C and D/C circuit breaker panel 110v A/C receptacles throughout and full 12 v D/C system Battery selector switch Deck and Hull Equipment This vessel was built with molded waffle pattern non skid decks. NO TEAK ON THE DECKS. She has high teak capped bulwarks for safety at sea. Openings to minimize chafe on her dock lines have been formed through the bulwarks and substantial forward, stern and mid-ship cleats will secure her in port. All stanchions are custom 1 1/2" diameter stainless and her rugged boom gallows is also 1 1/2' diameter stainless. A full Bimini is secured to the boom gallows and stores neatly along the gallows when not in use. She also has a very substantial dodger with extra strong stainless frame. The prominent feature of the W-32 is her sturdy bowsprit with stainless railing. An exciting place to be with her powering through the waters under full canvass. This vessel is also equipped with a custom tiller for added strength and security. There is wind vane steering mounted on her stern for those long passages. Substantial ground tackle is neatly stored on anchor rollers forward, and her anchor locker can handle all the rode you will ever need. She incorporates all of the exterior refinements of the latest Westsail hulls including radiused cabin edges. Mast can be lowered to pass under fixed bridges Gel-coat in excellent condition, hull gleams Aires Wind Vane Steering Sturdy heavy duty bowsprit w/stainless pulpit Simpson Lowrance 555 Sea-tiger windlass 35 LB CQR anchor w/ 125' of chain plus rode 33 LB Bruce anchor plus chain and rode Nicro Solar vents Heavy duty 1 1/2' stainless stanchions Double life-lines with opening boarding gates Removable side mounted boarding ladder Heavy duty 1 1/2' stainless boom gallows Bimini folds and stores in custom cover attached to boom gallows Heavy duty stainless frame & dodger Opening hatch in cockpit to service engine Opening saloon overhead hatch Opening forward hatch Molded non-skid fiberglass decks Extra heavy duty mast binnacle, allows mast to be lowered Cockpit cushions Mechanical & Engine Room Perkins 50 hp engine gives this vessel adequate power for any sea condition. Note: many of the Westsail 32 boats were built with much smaller engines which were totally inadequate for this heavy displacement model. Note the low hours on the engine. It has been well maintained and is in like new condition. Perkins 4 cylinder 50 hp engine Special 3 blade prop Automatic bilge pumps and large capacity built in Whale manual pump Sails and Rigging The Westsail 32 has a powerful cutter rig. Performance is really outstanding on the open sea, considering her solid construction and heavy displacement. Her heavy displacement and strong rig allow her to carry full sail when lesser boats are reefed down. This rig also allows for a multitude of sail combinations to match conditions. Harken roller furling jib system, serviced less than one year ago including replacement of forestay Staysail w/ self tending boom Main with lazy jack system All sails in excellent condition Self tailing Barlow #25 primary winches Three halyard winches on mast Boom Vang Sta-Lock fittings on all standing rigging Brokers Comments The Westsail 32 was created by Bill Crealock to be the ultimate cruising boat. It is now considered to be a piece of yachting history. This particular W-32 has been custom built to be at the top of her class and has been maintained in Bristol condition. Whether you use her to "Sail The World", as she was intended, or sail along the coast and through protected harbors and bays, you will be at the helm of the finest vessel afloat. She is as seaworthy as the day she was launched and from her beautiful bowsprit to her rugged rudder stock, this powerful cutter rigged vessel is as much a work of art as the means to extend your domain. She is truly a classic and will increase in value as the years pass by.
